Celal Mordeniz / Director of Tiyatro Medresesi and Seyyar Sahne

Celal Mordeniz (Turkey) was born in 1972. He studied philosophy at Boğaziçi University, did MA and PhD in Theatre Criticism and Dramaturgy at İstanbul University. He is the founder and artistic director of both the theatre group Seyyar Sahne (2000) and Tiyatro Medresesi (2012). He gives workshops on acting and "Movement Maqam," the technique he mainly devised in his PhD thesis entitled "Movement, Action, Dialogue." He also gives lectures on dramaturgy, based on the analysis of classical plays with reference to the concepts of “mimetic desire” and “scapegoat,” introduced by Réne Girard.
